Disney To Cut the Number of Star Wars TV Shows to One a Year

Disney is set to cut back on its number of Star Wars TV shows in the future. It could significantly impact Star Wars movies and TV series.

There is some ongoing criticism since Disney bought Star Wars.

However, the company has produced some of the franchise's amazing TV shows and expanded the Star Wars timeline significantly.

The controversies like the cancellation of The Acolyte have sparked concern. It looks like something interesting might be coming.

Richtman mentioned, "There is a rumor that a lot of series are in development, but it seems they plan to release just one live-action series per year starting in 2025."

While Disney hasn't agreed on all of these updates, they align with recent trends in Star Wars TV programming and could be true.

What Can Be The Reason Behind A Sudden Shift?

It fits perfectly with Disney's recent TV strategies. Like Marvel's approach is releasing two live-action shows a year, maybe they are doing the same.

A change and surprising shift to less live-action shows could be due to various reasons.

Maybe they want to save money. Disney CEO Bob Iger has highlighted the need for the company to cut costs and produce less.

Live-action TV shows, particularly like Star Wars, can cost hundreds of millions of dollars per season.

So, maybe reducing these productions would help cut expenses.

It means there will not be too many new shows.

Recently, the franchise is moving beyond the Skywalker Saga and dealing with a lot of challenges.

While all these rumors aren't confirmed yet, it looks like Star Wars might be moving toward releasing just one new live-action show per year.
