Who is Luke Skywalker?
Legendary Jedi Master Luke Skywalker was a force-sensitive individual who fought in the Galactic Civil War during the Galactic Empire's rule.
Skywalker was a revolutionary on the side of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, a group dedicated to overthrowing the Galactic Empire and establishing peace, along with Princess Leia Organa and General Han Solo. After the War, Skywalker rose to legendary status and was regarded as one of the finest Jedi in all of Star Wars history.
In his own words - "I am a Jedi, like my father before me."
Different lightsabers wielded by Luke Skywalker
Throughout the Star Wars canon, Luke has three distinct lightsabers, making him one of the most well-known characters. These sabers are:
1. Luke Skywalker's Blue Lightsaber
First seen in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope |
Luke's blue lightsaber remains one of the most recognizable weapons in Star Wars, popularly known as the Skywalker lightsaber. Luke Skywalker's father, Anakin Skywalker, was the initial owner of the blue-bladed saber. Obi-Wan Kenobi battled his former Padawan when Anakin transformed into Darth Vader, and after the significant loss, he grabbed possession of the weapon. During his Jedi training, Luke wielded the renowned lightsaber.
However, it was taken from him when Vader severed his hand in Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. The blue lightsaber was eventually buried on Tatooine and made a reappearance in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
2. Luke Skywalker's Yellow Lightsaber
Seen in Charles Soule's (2020) series |
Although it isn't depicted in any live-action Star Wars film, Luke used a yellow blade for a while after misplacing his original one on Cloud City. Marvel's official Star Wars comic book, Star Wars #6, chronicled Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Lando Calrissian's return to Cloud City.
Even though the Jedi was unable to find his weapon, a woman by the name of Verla gave him a vision that led him to Outer Rim. He traveled to an ancient outpost, where he found a weapon that had been used by guards at a Jedi Temple. What became of the yellow lightsaber in canon is still unknown.
3. Luke Skywalker's Green Lightsaber
Appeared In Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi |
After losing his father's lightsaber in a battle against the Sith Lord Darth Vader, Skywalker made his own.
Luke Skywalker created his green lightsaber, sometimes referred to as his second blade, while serving as a Jedi Knight during the Galactic Civil War. It was designed to resemble Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi's third blade, but instead of emitting a blue plasma blade like Kenobi's did, its kyber crystal created a green one.
