Remarkable shipment! I placed the order, eight days passed, I received my
ELEMENTAL NATURE LIGHTSABER with a PROFFIE 2.2 CONTROL BOARD and 82CM/32IN NEO PIXEL BLADE, packed in a stylish ARTSABERS black case along with a charging cable (no outlet plug), timing shim rings, blade plug, display stand, and more!
From the tip of the blade to the bottom of the pommel:
With the light active, the bullet-tip of the neopixel blade is faintly disillusioning, but the main length glows exquisitely!
The blade slips securely 7cm/2.75in deep (I added packaging tape, a single wrap-around, to the base of the blade to make it fit even neater) into the "wooden" head of the hilt.
The head, metal decorated beautifully with strongly attached wood patterns, fits three retention screws for the blade, the middle one a centimeter lower (the right height to hold the blade plug) than the two that are equal and opposite one another. High security!
The blade doesn’t rub against the exquisite, shiny shroud of the hilt head. And the bronze-colored ridge ringed around the shroud is useful as stop-point for the wooden crossguard I crafted for the hilt! And I easily replaced the screws holding the shroud in place with longer screws to lock in both the shroud and the crossguard! I did scratch the lustrous metal during the project, whoops.
The included timing shims ensure you can tighten the saber head on at various angles. For example, making the main part of the shroud, the symbols-side, face the same direction the control buttons do (not enough shims to do that perfectly, unfortunately)
The block the buttons are set on does some grip-nipping on your hands, but the button block is super easy to remove if you wish to modify the lightsaber controls closer flush to the midriff. I used Lego pieces and duct tape to form a new button arrangement!
I wish there was a third symbol carved into the midriff, to take the blank space on the side opposite of the buttons. Does the allen screw there discourage that somehow?
The lightsaber did not come with its length of pleather already coiled along the bottom section of the hilt. There’s double-sided tape included with the purchase to adhere the strap on, but I drew my glue-gun to do the job. Be advised, protect the shroud. I scuffed mine from repeatedly rolling the lightsaber during the pleather-work.
Ending the exterior review with the pommel, I appreciate the extra detail of a staggered groove cut in just above the D-ring. The D-ring hinges stiffly so it doesn’t clink and clank. Simple, artfully-cut vents at the bottom let the sound out.
The pommel unscrews for effortless removal of the control-board power core. Assuming the brass cap you’re pulling on doesn’t pop off like mine did. Two delicate dabs from my gluegun fixed that.
The core merely has to peek out for the recharging cable to plug in. Full removal is needed to do more with the core. Proffie hardware and software was intimidating to me. How to slip out the SD card, how to delete certain dialogue... I figured it out. Didn’t need internet advice, but terribly complicated, Proffie is.
I’m very happy with my purchase. But remember, this lightsaber is not easy as screw a couple parts on, charge the battery, activate!
The pleather wrapping takes excruciating, careful measuring. Don’t expect this lightsaber to match the store images five minutes after delivery to your door. I had the tools, time, and tenacity to deal with the assembly required and then some... After that, there’s barely a bland inch on this stunning-to-behold lightsaber! And like I mentioned earlier, there’s neat tinkering opportunities that come with this hilt!
Thank you for the elegant, elemental weapon, Artsabers!
