Star Wars’ Ahsoka Teases Season 2 Filming Start
Disney has already confirmed the upcoming Star Wars’ Season 2: Ahsoka, but given the busy schedule of Star Wars projects that Lucasfilm is taking care of, the show's star, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, recently hinted that production on the second season is almost a year away.
This means we probably won't see the new season until 2026, unless there are further delays.
The new season is being created by Dave Filoni, who is also set to direct a movie that will bring together all the series taking place during The New Republic era.
However, Filoni has confirmed that Season 2 of Ahsoka is his top priority before the movie.
At DragonCon, Bordizzo mentioned that production wouldn't begin until Jon Favreau's The Grogu & Mandalorian finishes filming, which could mean a start date in early summer 2024.
While Favreau may be directing the movie, Filoni is also involved in its development, so he might not even be done with writing Season 2 of Ahsoka until sometime next year.
Fortunately, Filoni has already started working on the second season.
Earlier this year, Filoni told the Happy Sad Confused podcast, "Since I've been writing [Star Wars’ Ahsoka Season 2], everything has fallen into place, and I have a much better idea of where the story is headed. I have an opening I'm really excited about. My focus right now is on [Ahsoka] and the rest of the galaxy's narrative." |
Since the Ahsoka season finale left several storylines unresolved, especially involving Grand Admiral Thrawn, Ezra Bridger, and Bordizzo's Sabine Wren, fans have been curious about what's next, especially for these characters.
Given the likely timeline for Season 2, it seems fans will get their answers in the new season instead of Filoni's upcoming The New Republic film.
