‘Star Wars The Acolyte’ Is A Smashing Hit For Disney+
The Acolyte is Disney+'s most significant success for 2024. The streaming platform reported on Thursday that the show's first two episodes, which include Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-Jae, and Carrie-Anne Moss, generated 4.8 million views when they aired for the first time.
The prior live-action Star Wars series ‘Ahsoka’ generated 14 million views in the first five days as opposed to 11.1 million views gained by ‘The Acolyte.’ The Acolyte first aired on 11th June and featured two episodes that were roughly 41 minutes long each.
The Acolyte may have fallen short of almost 3 million views compared to Ahsoka, but it still remains Disney +’s biggest series premiere of 2024.
Addressing The Legend
It is difficult to know an accurate first-day viewing number for ‘Ahsoka,’ but when analyzed by the number of months, that comes out to an average of 2.70 billion minutes per day, down to 8 million viewers per day, i.e., 2 million below the debut of The Acolyte.
This probably means that the vast majority of ‘Ahsoka’ was watched during the first one to two days.
The Acolyte is propelled by plentiful action, much of it hand-to-hand combat heavily inflected with martial arts.
As per the official tagline, ‘The Acolyte’ narrates, “an investigation into a shocking crime spree that pitted a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-Jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). With the new revelation, they turn dark when they discover that everything is not what it seems. ”
Leslye Headland served as the creator of the series. She is also the executive producer along with Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef. Charmaine DeGraté and Kor Adana are co-executive producers, while Rayne Roberts, Damian Anderson, Eileen Shim and Rob Bredow are the producers.
