A Sneak Peek At Star Wars Jedi: Survivor On Last-Gen Consoles
Last summer, EA revealed that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor would be coming to older consoles, after originally being only for the latest consoles. Now, just a few days before its September 17 release on Xbox One and PS4, Respawn and EA have shared some details and gameplay videos.
In 2023, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S as a sequel to 2019's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
It followed former Jedi Cal Kestis and his group of friends as they fought the Empire. The game was a hit, winning awards and getting great reviews. Now, we've finally seen some gameplay footage of it running on the PS4 Pro.
EA shared 5 minutes of gameplay from Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on the PS4 Pro, showing combat and exploration. I have to say, I’m impressed with how good this last-gen version looks.
However, running the game on older consoles like the PS4 Pro wasn't easy and does have some limitations compared to the newer versions. The biggest difference is the framerate. According to Respawn, the game runs at 30FPS on PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, and Xbox One X, with no option for 60FPS.
Here are the official performance goals for each platform, as shared by EA and Respawn:
- 1080p at 30FPS on PS4 Pro
- 900p at 30FPS on PS4
- 720p at 30FPS on Xbox One
- 1440p at 30FPS on Xbox One X
These make sense given the age of the consoles. However, I'd recommend avoiding the Xbox One version of Survivor, since the game looks stunning, even at 1080p, and playing it at 720p/30FPS wouldn’t do justice to such a great Star Wars adventure.
