Disney+ Announces First-Ever TV Channel for Marvel & Star Wars Movies, Shows
A new Disney+ channel focused on the MCU and Star Wars is launching soon.
Since its start in late 2019, Disney+ has become a major streaming player, offering the full Disney and Star Wars collections and almost all of Marvel’s past movies. This strategy has been very successful.
Back in August, it was announced that Disney+ planned to enter 24/7 streaming, and now those plans are becoming a reality.
Marvel/Star Wars Live Streaming Channel Coming to Disney+
According to Bloomberg, disney+ is launching four new "always on" live-streaming channels later this year.
The channels are Real Life (for documentaries and biopics), Hallowstream, Throwbacks (for nostalgic content), and Hits and Heroes, featuring action-packed movies and shows from Disney, including Star Wars and Marvel.
These channels will be available to Premium subscribers (no ads) and will update their content every month.
While it's not yet confirmed which shows will air on Hits and Heroes, popular Marvel and Star Wars titles like The Mandalorian will likely be included.
Earlier in September, Disney+ launched two 24/7 channels: one for ABC News and another for Disney Junior shows, which has been great for parents.
Could More Marvel and Star Wars Channels Be Coming?
If Disney+’s Hits and Heroes channel mixes Marvel and Star Wars content, could there be separate channels for each?
Disney hasn’t announced any future channels yet, but if Hits and Heroes does well, it’s possible Disney+ could create dedicated channels for Marvel and Star Wars. Both have plenty of content to make this work.
Other streaming services like Pluto TV and Tubi have been very successful, with each having over 80 million monthly users.
It wouldn’t be surprising if Disney, always ready to jump on new trends, decided to create more channels.
