Dossier

The Story

The Katana Duelling Lightsaber is a striking fusion of traditional samurai aesthetics and the advanced technology of a Jedi weapon. Designed with a distinctive katana-style hilt, this lightsaber embodies the elegance and precision of a warrior’s blade. The hilt features a rich gold finish, complemented by a red-wrapped tsuka (handle) that ensures a secure and comfortable grip. The detailed wrapping, inspired by traditional Japanese sword craftsmanship, enhances both the visual appeal and handling of the saber. The guard (tsuba) further reinforces the katana influence, providing an added layer of authenticity to the design.

Equipped with the S-RGB core, this lightsaber offers a durable Baselit blade capable of withstanding the toughest of duels. The saber comes pre-loaded with 27 iconic sound fonts, including the voices of legendary Force users, enhancing the immersive experience. Key features include smooth swing motion detection for lifelike sound effects, flash-on-clash technology for combat realism, multiple ignition and blade effects, gesture controls for intuitive operation, and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery for extended use. Bluetooth connectivity allows for seamless customisation via the “ForcePark V2” app available on iOS and Android devices, ensuring full control over every aspect of the saber’s performance.

History

Inspired by the legendary swords of ancient warriors, the Katana Duelling Lightsaber pays homage to the precision, honour, and discipline of samurai combat. Though not tied to any specific Star Wars lore, its design reflects the values shared between Jedi and samurai—both warriors guided by a code of honour, discipline, and skill.

This unique lightsaber merges the fluid and powerful strikes of traditional swordsmanship with the advanced combat techniques of Force users. Whether wielded in battle or displayed as a collector’s piece, the Katana Duelling Lightsaber stands as a testament to the timeless bond between warrior philosophy and the art of the blade.

Start with what you are going to do with it. If it is going to be fought with, look at baselit — the blade is a plain tube lit from the base, so there is less inside it to break, and nearly every baselit hilt here is rated for heavy duelling. If you want the blade to behave the way it does on screen, look at neopixel: a lit strip runs its whole length, so it ignites from the hilt up and flares where it is struck. That strip is also why neopixel hilts are rated for lighter contact. Proffie is neopixel with the software opened up, for anyone who would rather write their own effects than choose from a menu.
